Victor Wembanyama’s Surprising Choice…
The 2000s were like a game of rock-paper-scissors between basketball titans: Lakers legends Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal, and Spurs icon Tim Duncan. Every NBA Finals from 1999 to 2010 featured at least one of these giants, as if they were giving out frequent flyer miles for championship flights. Fast forward to today, and Victor Wembanyama has emerged as the next big thing in San Antonio, snagging attention like a dog chasing a vacuum cleaner. Despite playing for the Spurs, he briefly declared his all-time preference on Instagram Live, saying he’d take Bryant over Duncan—a choice as risky as ordering spaghetti on a first date.
Wembanyama might have tried to reel his words back, but in the social media world, spoken words are stickier than bubble gum on a hot sidewalk. Though Duncan is often called the greatest power forward with consistency as reliable as a dial-up connection, Bryant seemingly won Wembanyama over due to the Lakers’ playoff edge over the Spurs. Oh, and in a side note as juicy as a gossip column, LeBron James recently dubbed Bryant the ‘missing link’ of the 2008 Redeem Team during his Hall of Fame speech, adding even more sparkle to the legend of Kobe.
