Fan voting is kicking off for the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Best Defensive Player award! The superstar lineup includes the Los Angeles Lakers’ Luka Doncic, who defends so ferociously he’d make a knight guarding a castle blush. Doncic has been a key player for Slovenia, leading his team into the round of 16. With 34 points and 3.2 steals per game, heโs a legitimate contender for EuroBasket MVP and Best Defensive Player titles. Although Slovenia’s 3-2 group record poses a challenge, Doncic’s efforts, including leading his team in rebounds and blocks, are noteworthy.
Alongside Doncic, Finland’s Lauri Markkanen and Germany’s Dennis Schroder are also in the mix. Markkanen has been playing so well, he might just be mistaken for a Finnish superhero in disguise. Alongside his scoring and defensive prowess, his defense was key in defeating Serbia’s Nikola Jokic.
