Thiero the Next Anunoby?…
In the wild roller coaster that is the 2025 NBA Draft, the Lakers traded everything but their secret chili recipe to move up from the 55th pick to the 36th and snagged Arkansas forward Adou Thiero. Rob Pelinka must have seen Thiero dunk over the moon and thought, ‘Yes, this is a young OG Anunoby!’ Standing at 6’8″ and weighing in at 220 pounds, Thiero is ready to guard multiple locker rooms, err, positions. While his shooting from beyond the arc currently resembles a toddler’s first crayon drawing, Pelinka believes Thiero will soon become an NBA Picasso.
Pelinka went on to praise Thiero’s potential more than a grandma at a talent show. He believes Thiero’s 6’7″ frame is built to blast off like a rocket and defend like a fortress. While his shooting accuracy is still reminiscent of a weather forecast—occasionally accurate—Pelinka trusts in Thiero’s unstoppable spirit and the Lakers’ player development team. And don’t think Thiero is shy; he’s prepared to follow any request from coach JJ Redick, even if that means moonlighting as the team’s new waterboy. Rumor has it, he’s already practicing his towel-waving skills during timeouts!
