Thompson Delighted by Pat Riley’s Upcoming Statue…

Mychal Thompson, once a puzzle piece of the Lakers’ championship puzzle in the 80s, is thrilled for the unveiling of Pat Riley’s statue. Known for his coaching like a super-genius wizard with a playbook in one hand and a magic wand in the other, Riley left an indelible mark on the Lakers. Lakers fans are buzzing about the statue set for unveiling on Feb. 22, right before facing their arch-nemesis, the Boston Celtics. Thompson hopes this tribute won’t look like a Picasso gone wrong, much like the comical Dwyane Wade statue that famously didn’t resemble him at all!

The statue celebrates Riley’s influence on the ‘Showtime’ era, where he stocked rings like a dragon amassing gold. Having the Lakers’ highest win rate and trailing only Phil Jackson in victories, he’s a legend of the hardwood. Thompson applauds the team’s decision, even jesting that Riley still glares at Boston as if he’s sworn revenge in a soap opera. Come Feb. 22, it’s not just about the statue, but hopefully the Lakers will serve the Celtics a defeat as sweet as grandma’s pie.
