Slovenia Advances to FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Round of 16…
Luka Doncic and Slovenia found themselves in a pickle after losing their first two games at FIBA EuroBasket 2025, but they’re now walking on sunshine after beating Iceland and securing a spot in the round of 16. Despite playing as if his sneakers were on the wrong feet, Doncic still scored 26 points while helping Slovenia win 87-79. With six points in Group D, they’re heading to the knockout stage faster than a teenager racing to answer a phone call from their crush.
Although Doncic found himself in foul trouble and missed all four of his 3-pointers in the first half, he still transformed like a superhero in the third quarter, adding 10 points and leading a 24-11 surge against Iceland. Aleksej Nikolic chipped in with 17 points to help seal the deal, while Iceland’s Martin Hermannsson contributed 22 points but also had more turnovers than a pancake breakfast. Slovenia is now among the elite 12 teams advancing, with all Group D spots filled. They’ll face Israel next, hoping to dodge a clash with heavyweights like Serbia or Germany in the next round.
