Lakers Celebrate Annual Pride Night…

The Los Angeles Lakers announced their annual Pride Night will take place on Oct. 17 when they host the Sacramento Kings in their preseason finale. It’s an event that spreads more joy than a dog in a field of tennis balls. The Lakers will celebrate by hosting members of the local LGBTQIA+ community. Since 2018, they’ve honored community members with the ‘Laces of Unity’ award, and while no honoree has been announced yet, the audience is eagerly anticipating who will be the next star—maybe it’s even that awesome guy who trained a squirrel to play basketball! This night also marks the Lakers’ final chance to fine-tune their skills and make those roster spots look like the front row of a BeyoncĂ© concert.

Lakers fans attending their Oct. 21 game against the Warriors will have their heads turning like a bobblehead. But another colossal night will be Feb. 22 when the Lakers unveil a statue of legendary coach Pat Riley. Known for leading the ‘Showtime’ Lakers, Riley is one of the greatest masterminds in NBA history, though he might be better at coaching than trying to fry an egg with sheer intensity. The statue unveiling will add extra drama before they face the Celtics, as Riley still carries more rivalry fire than a dragon who’s missed his morning coffee. Expect lots of nostalgia and a reminder that inefficient use of hairspray in the 80s can land you a shiny monument!
