Howard and Anthony Join Hall of Fame…

The 2025 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame class is buzzing with excitement as the weekend kicks off, featuring some familiar faces from the Los Angeles Lakers. NBA icons Dwight Howard and Carmelo Anthony, who ended their legendary journeys draped in Lakers’ purple and gold, are among the celebrated inductees. Howard snagged a championship with the Lakers in the 2019-20 season and returned alongside Anthony for round three in 2021-22. While their return didn’t lead to a Hollywood ending that year, the duo still have L.A.’s fans swooning as they don their Hall of Fame orange jackets. If their Los Angeles stint was a movie, it might’ve been more “Buddy Comedy” than “Oscar Winner.”

The festivities began with the ceremonious jacket presentation on Friday night, setting the stage for the grand event on Saturday at 4 p.m. PT on NBA TV. Howard, renowned for his epic defensive prowess with eight All-NBA nods and three Defensive Player of the Year awards, stood proudly beside Anthony—whose offensive abilities hit the big leagues with a scoring title in 2012-13. Their induction honors not just their individual achievements, but also their part in the 2008 Redeem Team, where they had teammates who could jump higher than a caffeinated kangaroo. Both legends were delighted to celebrate the honor, with Howard dubbing his Lakers championship the cherry on top of a Hall of Fame career sundae.
