Augustas Marciulionis’ Road to Recovery…

Every summer after the NBA Draft, hopeful undrafted players snatch up Exhibit 10 contracts like a hungry flock of seagulls at a beach picnic. Augustas Marciulionis is one such seagull for the Los Angeles Lakers. A familiar last name echoes the courts as his father, Sarunas, dazzled in the NBA back in the ’90s. Marciulionis Jr., fresh from dominating college hoops at Saint Mary’s, found himself sidelined by a foot injury just before the draft. It’s as if he took a wrong turn in a shopping mall and ended up in the leg brace section! Nonetheless, he’s healing faster than a cheetah on roller skates and hopes to dazzle in Lakers training camp soon.

Rehabbing in Lithuania, Marciulionis watches his national team prepping for EuroBasket 2025. His focus, however, is on cracking the Lakers roster, hoping his talent translates onto NBA hardwood like he’s the maestro of a basketball symphony. With a nearly 3-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio, he’s a pass-first point guard just waiting to sprinkle his magic on the court. Admittedly, his three-point shots have been a bit like weighing goldfish – tricky, but in his last college years he showed he’s warming up. With the ball now in his court, Marciulionis is geared to show Los Angeles what he’s made of, as long as he doesn’t show up with two left sneakers!
