NBA Evaluators on Knecht’s Summer Performance…
Dalton Knecht was supposed to be the Los Angeles Lakers’ next big thing in Summer League, but instead, he struggled more than a cat trying to swim. Absolutely nowhere near his full potential, Knecht averaged just 11.7 points and shot an alarming 32.1% from the field, which had people worried he might be hitting the backboard with his eyes closed. Still, despite a rough outing, NBA evaluators like Dan Woike believe his rocky performance won’t shake their confidence in Knecht’s NBA future. After all, it’s like judging a superhero based on their first day at kindergarten.
Knecht’s rookie season boasted some shining moments, including seven games scoring 20 or more points, which must have felt like finding gold at the end of a rainbow after this Summer League showing. The rescinded trade back to the Lakers added complexity, but his scoring skills suggest a promising future. With a great preseason performance, the second-year guard might just close this Summer League chapter faster than a cheetah in track spikes. Meanwhile, Lakers rookie Adou Thiero, fresh off a knee recovery, is also gearing up for training camp hoping to stand out.
