Lakers center wins NBA’s Bob Lanier award
Deandre Ayton has earned the NBA’s Bob Lanier Community Assist Award for November, celebrating his work rebuilding St. Elizabeth Parish in Jamaica and helping youth through his Ayton Ally-Oop program. JJ Redick praised Ayton’s heart, saying the team loves getting to know him.
Ayton’s mom even cooked a Caribbean feast for the Lakers—proof that in L.A., assists now come with extra rice and peas.
