Lakers and Redeem Team Honored…
The Basketball Hall of Fame welcomed its 2025 class on Saturday, and the Lakers shone brighter than 20 consecutive solar eclipses. Dwight Howard and Carmelo Anthony, former Lakers and basketball titans, headlined the list, waltzing into the Hall on their first tries like they were simply strolling into a local burger joint. The 2008 USA Olympic “Redeem Team,” hailed as the superhero squad of basketball, was also celebrated. Legends like Kobe Bryant and LeBron James were team stars, with Kobe remembered for his leadership despite his absence and LeBron marveling at the hall experience while still dribbling his way into another NBA season.
Kobe Bryant was the lynchpin, and while he couldn’t attend, his spirit was there, dunking metaphorical basketballs as tribute flowed. LeBron amusingly rocked an orange jacket, an honor as rare as spotting a unicorn playing basketball in your backyard. Meanwhile, Dwight Howard—decked in all his Hall of Fame glory—believes winning a Lakers championship was the cherry on his career sundae.
