Luka Doncic, the Los Angeles Lakers’ superstar, is ready to dazzle at the FIBA EuroBasket 2025. Alongside luminaries like Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka will represent his homeland, Slovenia. Franz Wagner, Orlando Magic forward, is gearing up for Germany’s run with former Lakers point guard Dennis Schroder. In preparation, they faced Luka in exhibition games, and Wagner likened guarding Luka to wrangling a tornado with a butterfly net—utterly impossible! Wagner praised Luka’s versatility and the need for a team effort to defend against him, saying sometimes, you just have to tip your hat and accept the wild shots he makes.
Wagner noted that containing Doncic is as tough as explaining the internet to your grandparents. The Lakers’ ace poses a challenge no matter where he plays. Although Germany and Slovenia are in different EuroBasket groups, they may clash in the eliminations if both teams make it through. Recently, Luka dodged a serious injury scare during a game against Latvia when a teammate landed on his knee.
