Lakers’ Forward Battles Injuries…

Jarred Vanderbilt, the high-energy forward for the Los Angeles Lakers, spent more time in the doctor’s office than on the court in the past couple of years. With both feet getting a tune-up last offseason, Vanderbilt made his grand entrance on Jan. 25. He played 36 games in the 2024-25 season, which might be considered a win after his surgeries. However, he couldn’t quite find his rhythm and shape before the playoffs started. Picture him trying to play catch-up like a snail with rocket boots; the intention is there, but it still takes time. His defensive prowess returned quickly, but on offense, he’s like a magician who can make the ball disappear before it reaches the basket. Vanderbilt’s offensive stats weren’t the best, and he spent only an average of 16 minutes per game under Coach JJ Redick’s watch. The season’s silver lining? He finished healthy and has a chance to refine his game over the summer.

As the Lakers contended with tough teams for a playoff spot, Vanderbilt shone with eight points and 12 rebounds against the towering Oklahoma City Thunder. Fast-forwarding to the 2025-26 season, the man’s got his feet in fighting form, looking to surprise everyone come training camp. It’s a bit like watching a chicken try to fly—unexpected yet entertaining when they do catch the wind. With injuries behind him, he aims to defend the perimeter and prove he’s fit for the Lakers’ rotation.
