Redick Finds Nuggets in Koloko’s Spark…
Friday night was like a Hollywood cliffhanger with the Lakers facing the Denver Nuggets without six key players. Coach JJ Redick might as well have been a magician the way he pulled out surprises, playing a nearly invisible Christian Koloko, who transformed into the team’s underdog hero.
Despite his team’s dire situation, Redick was prepared to duke it out with the Nuggets’ power-duo: Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic. Missing in action were Jaxson Hayes and Trey Jemison, leaving Alex Len and Christian Koloko holding the fort. Koloko faced more obstacles than an obstacle course, battling foul trouble, yet impressing Redick enough to earn more court time. Can you say “Cinderella story” on court? In just the 20 minutes of fame, Koloko gathered eight points, seven rebounds, and played tough defense like his life depended on it against the MVP magnet, Jokic!
The Lakers may have not snagged the win, but Redick was beaming like a dad at a school recital. Role players like Dalton Knecht, Jordan Goodwin and our man Koloko displayed more grit than a bowl of oatmeal, giving us a peek into the future stars. The Lakers’ hustle and comeback spirit earned Redick’s nod, inspiring a “Proud Coach Moment” banner. Sure, the win wasn’t in the bag, but they packed quite the entertaining punch.
