The Lakers’ Defense Takes a Timeout…
Saturday night’s showdown between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Chicago Bulls turned more into a circus than a basketball game! With the Lakers at full strength thanks to the grand return of LeBron James and Rui Hachimura, hopes were high – but so were the Bulls’ scores! The Lakers’ defense played top-notch hide and seek, giving away 146 points as if it were a Thanksgiving turkey. Meanwhile, they generously shared the ball with 21 turnovers, gifting the Bulls 27 little presents on the scoreboard.
JJ Redick wasn’t exactly singing show tunes after seeing his squad get outplayed, but he tossed a little grace their way – after all, they’ve been on a whirlwind court tour with seven games in 10 days. Redick pointed out that the Lakers’ defensive play was more like that of a rusty machine trying to hum back to life. “We were about as sharp as a soggy teddy bear. Time to wake up, fellas!” he hinted.
With the playoffs on the horizon, it’s all about the dramatic chase for the best possible playoff seat. Redick is rallying the troops, hoping they remember their defensive spirit soon, rather than sporting it as a distant memory. “Edge is key,” Redick preached. “Let’s pump some life back into our defense before the playoffs, folks!” Here’s hoping they learn the ropes – or at least avoid tying themselves up in them!
