Kobe & Jordan Card Shatters Records at Auction…
Over the weekend, Heritage held an auction where a 1-of-1 basketball card featuring signatures from the legendary Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant and Chicago Bulls’ star Michael Jordan was sold. It took center stage during their Summer Platinum Night Sports Auction on Aug. 23 and 24. This card hasn’t been auctioned before, effectively giving it the Midas touch that turned it into a $12.932 million golden treasure! Breaking records, it became the most expensive sports card ever. Chris Ivy of Heritage Auctions expressed that such a world record price reflects this card’s unmatched quality and the premier platform they provide.
Before this, the record-holder was a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle card sold for $12.6 million in 2022. With 82 fiercely competitive bids, the Bryant and Jordan card skyrocketed to stardom as if it had wings of a jet! Alongside this card, other noteworthy pieces were auctioned like a 1960 Mickey Mantle jersey and a 1984 Jordan ticket stub, both setting their own records. The weekend allowed fans to reflect on Kobe, celebrating his birthday and Mamba Day, with stories of his legendary rivalry with defenders like Shane Battier—who humorously confessed Kobe gave him more trouble than a Rubik’s cube on expert level!
