So, the Lakers played their first game minus LeBron and ended up with a big, fat “L” against the Brooklyn Nets. With LeBron nursing his groin (ouch!), the Lakers had to rely on the dynamic duo of Austin Reaves and Luka Doncic to save the day. Spoiler alert: they didn’t exactly become superheroes.
Let’s break it down: Reaves showed up with 17 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds – sounds impressive, right? But crunch the numbers, and it looks like someone left their shooting skills back in LA. Reaves hit only three shots out of 14 attempts – three! He himself said he played “incredibly bad” and isn’t throwing up the white flag or blaming the injuries for this cosmic malfunction. Turns out, even without LeBron, they had plenty of star power to get the job done. It just didn’t happen.
