NBA’s New Rule Shakes Up Player Stats…
Under the direction of NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, the league is like a mad scientist in a lab, always experimenting to improve the game. Adam has done everything short of replacing referees with robots to keep fans engaged. He’s introduced exciting novelties such as the Play-In Tournament and the NBA Cup. And for the upcoming 2026 All-Star Game, he’s even cooking up a USA vs. the World showdown. Despite some fans grumbling like they had to watch a game with a broken remote, Silver’s rule tweaks show the league’s commitment to making the season fun and flashy. One of these tweaks for the 2025-26 season is to no longer count missed end-of-period heaves as player stats, thus sparing players from watching their shooting percentage plummet faster than a lead balloon.
The reason behind this change is to unburden players who were so keen on stats that they dodged wild, long-range heaves like ducks avoiding hunters. This adjustment was tested during the Summer League and turned out to be as successful as a cat video on the internet. Now, it will roll out to the regular season, and players might just start launching shots from the moon with zero concern about stats. Also, speaking of great distances, the Los Angeles Lakers are slated to fly a whopping 45,507 miles for the 2025-26 season, probably earning enough frequent flyer miles to send the team to another galaxy!
